PEORIA (25 News Now) - Fans of all things feline have the chance to catch some cats in the area this weekend.

Exposition Gardens is hosting the Annual Cat Show for lovers of all breeds and types of cats. The event included vendors selling supplies, with some owners even selling kittens. Close to 150 cats are in-house to view, from Norwegian Forest Cats, Persians, Siamese, and more. Five judges rank the cats from different backgrounds by behavior, looks, and more, giving out ribbons as awards.

Organizer Cathy Dunham sees the show as a chance to meet owners and share passions for their cat companions.

“The breeder and owner of each particular cat is where its at, you know they wanna talk about their cat, they want you to experience their breed.”

The participants took the time to travel out of state to come to this event.

Kathy Colhoun, one of the judges, shared a personal understanding in meeting people at the event.

“There is a other side of it, there is a human side, you see friends, show after show, we go to dinner, there’s a community of friendship that’s goes along with showing cats.”

The cat show will be in town until Sunday, and you can find more information can be found on the official Facebook page.
