BLOOMINGTON (25 News Now) - One community is hoping to band together after receiving an eviction notice from the City of Bloomington to vacate the area.

Friday afternoon, Bloomington landowner Chris Collins spoke up on the frustration in trying to support the homeless by creating an encampment meant to help those struggling with homelessness.

“People with problems, don’t need another problem, they need a solution. ” Collins said.

There are currently seven members of the community taking pride in what they have left by cleaning the grounds, mowing grass, and setting rules to not disturb the other residents in the area.

Residents provided a portable sanitation restroom for the encampment.

Neighbors worry about the living arrangement of those who live in the encampment as winter approaches.

Terry Wright a member of the encampment acknowledges the affect of the residents who live there. However, he feels it is a family and sees that it not cause a disturbance to the surrounding neighborhood.

“I just think the city and everybody needs to give us a chance out here so we can show them we are doing something good. Were taking care of people with alcohol problems and straighten them up.”

The encampment is currently facing an eviction notice from the city and are looking for support via GoFundMe.
