UPDATE: Peoria fire crews battle commercial building fire
UPDATE (9:30 p.m.) - The fire Wednesday afternoon at the former South Gate Exchange at Ligonier and Adams caused an estimated $200,000, according a Peoria Fire Department news release.
First responders said they saw heavy black smoke coming from the building.
The fire started in the back of the store, but investigators have not determined a cause.
It took 23 firefighters to put out the fire, which was reported about 4:10 p.m.
No one was hurt.
UPDATE 5:12 P.M. - Battalion Chief Scott Sturm says the fire was located in the back of the store, which was closed but did have some contents inside.
There were no injuries reported.
PEORIA (25 News Now) - Peoria firefighters are on scene of a business fire in South Peoria.
It is located near Ligonier and Adams Street.
It began around 4:15 PM Tuesday.
Fire Chief Shawn Sollberger tells 25 News at one point, flames were shooting through the roof.
No one was inside the building at the time of the fire.
There is no word on any injuries or what may have caused the fire.
