PEORIA (25 News Now) - It’s that time again for thousands of students across the nation, and here in Central Illinois, students will move into Bradley and Illinois State this weekend.

For the first time since the pandemic began, this semester will be the first where things are fully back to normal. Gone are the days of mask requirements and testing requirements.

“We’re continuing to watch this very closely, but it is nice to be moving back toward I guess what we could call a more normal operation,” ISU spokesperson Eric Jome said.

Down I-74, Bradley University is welcoming more than 1,000 freshman students to campus this semester. The campus was mostly calm Tuesday, but Bradley VP of Student Affairs Nathan Thomas says it won’t be this weekend.

“This is kind of the calm before the storm as we move into later in this week. we have our last orientation session that starts on Wednesday,” Thomas said. “So the activity really begins to pick up as the week goes on too.”

“Exciting opportunities, challenges and things like that,” Jome said. “Just to be back on campus with that energy level, where you’re seeing new friends, you’re meeting new friends.”
