Peoria Municipal Band plays final show of summer season
PEORIA (25 News Now) - The Peoria Municipal Band played its final show of the summer season Sunday, in front of a massive crowd at the Glen Oak Amphitheatre.
The band played 24 concerts this season, with shows twice a week on Wednesdays and Sundays.
It is made up of 50 members all from different backgrounds - some of whom teach music themselves.
Sunday, the band played its last show in front of hundreds sprawled across the park lawn. The conductor said the show is a culmination of all the hard work the band has put in over the last few months.
“Musically, that regularity of playing two days a week - rehearsing on Monday nights for three hours - I think that just builds some of the rapport within the ensemble itself,” conductor David Vroman said.
The band plays a wide variety of music, from classics and showtunes to even some rock music.
It will return for the summer 2023 season next Memorial Day. For more information on the Peoria Municipal Band, visit its website at this link.
