25 Sports Tour - Ridgeview-Lexington Mustangs
COLFAX (25 News Now) - Our 25 Sports Tour stops in Colfax to meet the Ridgeview-Lexington Mustangs.
The Mustangs are full of confidence thanks to a state semifinal appearance last season.
“I think we can carry most of our momentum from last year into this year to help us boost our confidence and see how well we can do,” Cale Hoffman, Ridgeview-Lexington senior WR/CB, said.
“We’ve come here with a lot of confidence,” Hal Chiodo, Ridgeview-Lexington head coach, said. “I hope it’s not too much confidence but we believe in what we’re doing and the guys are really working hard.”
Ridgeview-Lexington is hitting the ground running much of their team from last year, including all-state running back Kaden Farrell.
“We’re probably where we were at in the fourth or fifth game last year right now,” Chiodo said. “Kaden Farrell was a first-team all-state running back, had 2,000 yards last year. He’s quite a player. He really looks good.”
But the guys in front of Farrell will also be a force to be reckoned with.
“Our O-line is very strong too but our bonding together has just been very good and we’re very close friends and it helps everything because we know what each other is thinking,” Kaden Farrell, Ridgeview-Lexington senior running back, said.
With the Mustangs returning many from their state semifinal team from a season ago, the goal of a state title is more than just a dream.
“We want to win a state championship like we do every year,” said Chiodo. “I think it means a little more this year. If I said that to them last year they probably would have laughed at me, but I mean we were one game away so. We’ve got a chance.”
“It makes it very more exciting and knowing we can actually make it that far to get to that opportunity,” Farrell said.
