PEORIA (25 News Now) - Newly obtained dashcam footage shows the scene of a multi-vehicle crash July 30 that sent multiple people to the hospital - including a Peoria Police officer.

A previous release from the Illinois State Police says the officer who was hit by the car that was struck was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

That officer has been with the department for four years.

Peoria Police Chief Eric Echevarria said that around 8:30 p.m. July 30, the officer was handling a separate case when a vehicle failed to yield, drove over the median and struck the first vehicle on the shoulder, crashing into the officer.

The driver of the other vehicle, 50-year-old Charles Wrenrey, was ticketed for four violations, including improper passing of an emergency vehicle, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, failure to change lanes for a disabled vehicle and improper lane usage

Illinois State Police are still investigating.
