UPDATE 5:05 P.M. - The Chillicothe Police Department says the driver of that minivan - an 82-year-old woman, was issued a citation for disobeying a stop sign.

Police say the driver was traveling south on Bradley Avenue while Perry was traveling West on Sycamore on Friday, August 7.

CHILLICOTHE (25 News Now) - A Chillicothe woman died from injuries Friday after being struck at an intersection in Chillicothe.

Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood says Shelly Perry, 67, of West McDowell Street, was struck by a minivan in the intersection of the 500 block of North Bradley Avenue.

Autopsy on Perry shows she suffered multiple blunt force trauma injuries and suffered severe internal bleeding.

She was dragged under the minivan for approximately 20 feet before the vehicle came to a stop and remained underneath for around 20 minutes before being freed by firefighters, according to Harwood.

She was initially semi-conscious and distressed and transported to OSF in critical condition.

She was pronounced dead in the ER at 10:57 a.m. after her condition rapidly deteriorated and despite aggressive treatment.

Harwood says toxicology is pending, though it will have no impact on the cause of death.

The case remains under investigation by the Chillicothe Police Department.
