Fairbury Police officer hurt responding to domestic disturbance Friday night
LIVINGSTON COUNTY (25 News Now) - A suspect was taken into custody Friday night after authorities say a Fairbury Police officer was attacked during a domestic disturbance.
A man who had been fighting with his wife attacked one of two officers who were on the scene at Oak and Clay Streets on the city’s west side, said Fairbury Police Det. Tyler Rafferty.
The officer was punched in the face, said Rafferty, and was taken as a precaution to OSF Saint James-John W. Albrecht Medical Center in Pontiac. Rafferty said the officer did not suffer life threatening injuries.
Police used a taser to subdue the suspect and he was taken into custody.
The man from Fairbury, who’s name is not being released, faces felony charges of aggravated battery of a peace officer and aggravated domestic battery.
Rafferty said Fairbury Police were helped at the scene by officers from Pontiac, Chenoa, Chatsworth, and the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office.
