PEORIA (25 News Now) - You can already feel the mugginess in the air, and that humidity joined with the heat tomorrow with create dangerous weather for the weekend. We have issued First Alert Weather Days for both Saturday and Sunday as highs will climb into the low to mid 90s and heat index values will be up to 105. The areas most likely to see those peak heat index values will be along and west of the Illinois river. To account for this, a Heat Advisory has been issued for Fulton, Peoria, Knox, Tazewell, Mason, and Logan counties for Saturday from noon to 8 PM. Moving any outdoor plans indoors will be the best way to avoid the excessive heat, but if you have to spend time outside, take frequent breaks and hydrate!

It’ll continue to be muggy overnight, and we can see areas of patchy fog develop along and east of the Illinois river. Lows will fall into the low 70s. Skies will be mostly sunny Saturday and they’ll likely start that way on Sunday. Clouds will increase Sunday afternoon ahead of a cold front that will approach from the northwest. We could see an isolated shower or storm Sunday late afternoon or evening ahead of this cold front. Better rain chances will fall overnight Sunday into Monday as the front arrives and stalls.
