Numerous gas station entrances blocked by law enforcement in Peoria area

PEORIA (25 News Now) - The entrances to at least four Peoria area gas stations have been blocked off by squad cars of different law enforcement agencies.
Law enforcement was seen at the Shell station at Knoxville and Nebraska and the Shell station between Rockwood and Sterling as well as the Shell station at Main and Blackjack in front of the Par-a-Dice casino in East Peoria.
Law enforcement was also seen via IDOT cameras at the Shell station at Knoxville and Lake.
According to online Peoria County GIS records, the stations in Peoria and a number of others are owned by Axis Investments LLC, based out of Louisville, Kentucky.
The Shell station in East Peoria is also owned by Axis Investments LLC, according to online Tazewell County GIS records.
According to the Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal, Axis Investments LLC owns seven gas stations in the area.
Peoria Police referred 25 News to the Illinois Department of Revenue. When we contacted the state department of revenue, a spokesperson said the agency, “cannot comment on the status of ongoing investigations, however, or even acknowledge their existence due to confidentiality provisions in the tax laws.”
