PEORIA (25 News Now) - The 91st Annual McLean County Fair got underway today and a large crowd had already come through the gates. Last year was their first time back to normal after COVID and it was a record-breaking year.

This year, they’re hoping to break that record and they have plenty to offer. There are carnival rides, horseback riding, tractor pulls, live entertainment, and you can even milk a cow. Because of the heat, the staff have set up plenty of areas for people to get water and take breaks in the air conditioning.

Mike Swartz, Fair Manager, said “So the same thing we do for people we do for animals. So hydrate the best you can, Get in the shade or air conditioning for the people. And we’re fortunate to have three different locations on our ground. We have a 6,000 foot educational exhibit for people to get in, and it’s air conditioned.”

We also spoke to a few kids and asked what their favorite part of the fair is, and they said “My favorite part of the fair is probably midway...” “Seeing all the different rabbits...” “I like the fair a lot because of the lemonade, it’s just really good here...” “I love the ferris-wheel. It goes round and round.”

The gates open everyday at 6 AM and close at 9 PM, but the fair itself stays open until 11 PM. The fair last until Sunday. Ticket prices were reduced this year to account for inflation, so hopefully making it more affordable for families. More information on events and ticket prices are all online at
