Area athletes came out Tuesday for a fun promo shoot day as 25 Sports gets ready for year 14 of Prep Rally.
All the athletes were pumped and excited about getting to be a part of the show.
“It’s pretty exciting to get this opportunity to be in a commercial,” Jake Morin, a Eureka senior, said. “Never had that opportunity, probably once in a lifetime, feels good.”
“It’s surreal,” Victoria Hall, a Metamora senior, said. “I mean, there’s been phenomenal athletes who have gone through here in the Central Illinois area so it’s really cool to be able to be here.”
“It’s super exciting to be with all these great athletes in high school and it’s so fun,” Gracie Luna, an East Peoria senior, said.
For some athletes, being a part of this year’s Prep Rally is a recognition of their hard work.
“It’s just really special, like my talents weren’t unnoticed this year and I thought they were and just waiting for the next year,” Chris Taylor, a Normal Community senior, said.
“It’s awesome, it feels like an achievement,” Kanye Tyler, a Pekin senior, said. “It feels like something I worked hard towards and it feels awesome.”
For others, it’s a childhood dream come true.
“This is one of my dreams,” Mitch Coughlon, a Washington senior, said. “I’ve been watching this since I was a kid, you know watching other soccer players, other athletes from this area, and honestly to be here myself is like a dream come true and I’m really excited to be a part of this opportunity.”
“It’s a little weird to think how fast you grow up and now I’m an actual part of it instead of watching it, it’s really cool to think about,” Ellie Cahill, a Eureka senior, said.
“It’s awesome because I grew up watching it,” Tanner Sprecher, a Pekin senior, said. “It’s always been kind of a dream to go out and do things that I watched as a kid.”
And for some, Tuesday is carrying on a family legacy.
“My brother was on it I think his senior year,” Ethan Kizer, a Metamora senior, said. “It’s pretty special. I love my brother and it’s awesome to be here and do what he did.”
But now with Tuesday being them, all excitement is now focused on the upcoming season.
“I’m super excited,” Kenna Wollard, an IVC senior, said. “I think that all these years before have been leading up to this year and we have a lot of potential this year and I’m just super excited for all that’s to come.”
Prep Rally returns August 25.
