PEORIA (25 News Now) - Fans of all things games, fanfiction, and cosplay costumes let their inner geek out on Saturday.

The Peoria Civic Center hosted the annual ‘Quad-Con,’ celebrating all the aspects of culture people love and grew up on. That included action figures, comic books, and even Pokémon Cards.

The event had a kids and adults best costume contest, with more than 100 contestants and a group photo to commemorate the moment. Fans of all things geeky were able to interact for fun by trading anime, playing in videogame tournaments, and buying books covering genres from sci-fi to fantasy books.

Participants and vendors say events like these are important for the new generation of nerds.

“Quad Con is a Comic Con, but it’s for everything,” says author Mckayla Jade.

Vendor Mariah Donner decided it was time to pass down treasured pieces of her pop culture assembly. “It seems like it’s having another resurgence, so I figured now is a good time to take out my old collection and pass it on to the next generation.”
