EUREKA (25 News Now) - A new postage stamp honors an American First Lady with an Illinois connection.
The USPS unveiled the stamp Wednesday, on what would’ve been Nancy Reagan’s 101st birthday.
Thursday morning, about a dozen people gathered for a ceremony at Eureka College, Ronald Reagan’s alma mater.
Postmaster Brian Shirey shared what Mrs. Reagan meant to Eureka.
“She came back many different times with or without her husband to visit the college, through the scholarships and different items they were always part of the Eureka community,” Shirey said.
Nancy Reagan was First Lady from 1981-1989.
She died in 2016.
