A Total Loss: Multiple fires on Meadows Pl. overnight
PEORIA (25 News Now) - Emergency crews in Peoria were kept busy during the 4th of July holiday.
Around 10:30 p.m. Monday night, Peoria firefighters and paramedics responded to the 700 block of W. Meadows Pl. to reports of a garage fire.
According to Battalion Chief Tom Sander, once crews arrived, a large explosion erupted from inside the garage, which is considered a total loss. The heat from the garage caused exterior damage to a two-story home, and neighbor’s garage on Meadows Pl. With a total of three structure fires, crews were able to extinguish the flames within half an hour.
Ameren was also called to the scene due to downed arcing powerlines.
25 News has not confirmed if the fire is the result of fireworks. A cause has yet to be determined as of Tuesday morning.
No injuries were reported from the fire. While the investigation into the fire continues, estimated damages are set at $70,000.
