FamilyCore closing its private adoption programs
PEORIA (25 News Now) - A Peoria-based agency is stopping its adoption programs.
FamilyCore will close its private adoption programs on August 31, 2022. FamilyCore says the decision is based on a decline in adoptions over the past several years and the agency’s struggle to find qualified candidates to fill open positions within its adoption programs.
The agency feels it is best to pass the torch to better equipped organizations.
“It’s a sad day for our organization because I think it’s a necessary service, but I think it’s important for us also to recognize between our staffing and our I think the service could be at a higher level at another organization that has a larger case load,” Ann Lading-Ferguson, FamilyCore CEO, said.
Despite closing its private adoption program, FamilyCore says adoptions through foster care will be ongoing.
