TAZEWELL COUNTY (25 News Now) - The Tazewell County Health Department began offering COVID-19 vaccines to children ages 6 months to 4 years old Monday.

The health department plans to provide vaccinations to children every monday at its location in Tremont and administer the Pfizer vaccine to patients at no cost.

The health department says the best way combat the virus is to get vaccinated - and as soon as they’re eligible

“we’re encouraging people to get the vaccine as young as six months to make sure people aren’t so sick that they end up in the hospital or, some people, unfortunately have died from covid, so we’re trying to prevent the death and hospitalizations,” said communications manager Sara Sparkman.

The health department will not offer vaccines next Monday because of the Fourth of July holiday.

Those interested in getting their child vaccinated can schedule an appointment on their website or by calling 309-929-0294.
