Peoria Police planning to enforce curfew violations
PEORIA (25 News Now) -Police are reminding parents that Peoria does have a curfew for young people.
While the River City’s had a curfew for many years, the chief is getting the word out that parents are expected to know where their kids are.
He says officers will enforce it, with warning first and a possible fine up to $250 dollars.
“You’ve been warned. We want, and more importantly, what we want to make sure is that we don’t have a child out in the wrong place at the wrong time and something happens to them, right?” Chief Eric Echevarria said.
The curfew states children 12 and under can’t be out between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m.
For those 13 through 16, it’s usually 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. but midnight (12:01 a.m.) on Friday and Saturday evenings.
