BLOOMINGTON (25 News Now) - Tens of thousands are expected at the Interstate Center this weekend as ‘Tailgate N’ Tallboys’ makes its long-awaited return to central Illinois.

Around 15,000 people showed up for the first day, and that number is expected to exceed 20,000 on Friday.

“It feels so good to just be around people again and feel back to normal life again,” concertgoer Trinity Weller said.

“Everyone was stuck inside, and now it is just so nice that everyone is out again,” concertgoer Cambelle Brunke added.

With temperatures expected to hover around the 90s, organizers are making sure resources are readily available.

“Right now, what we’re doing is free water during the heat index,” USA concerts president Wayne Klein said. “We do have the medical tent, which is air-conditioned. They have free water also.”

For the concertgoers and staff, everyone there has their own game plan on how to stay safe and hydrated.

“80-100 (degrees) - great! Sweating is a natural cooling system - just stay hydrated,” concertgoer Mike Frederick said.

“Drink lots and lots of water and stay out of the sun. I know the sun is here, but do what you can to stay out of it,” camping coordinator Michelle Banfield said.

Friday is expected to be the busiest day, with thousands of single-day tickets sold just for that day.
