EAST PEORIA (25 News Now) - Illinois Central College gave students and their families a chance to learn about rewarding careers across central Illinois.

The ‘Ready to Work’ Expo wrapped up Friday at the East Peoria campus. There, students could learn about jobs in agriculture, HVAC, truck driving, welding and more.

Organizers say not only do most of these jobs pay well and offer great benefits, but most of them have a big need for new employees right now.

“We have area employers that say they could take as many graduates as we could possibly send their way,” Professor of Agriculture Grant Grebner said. “There is certainly a need there, and we are trying to meet that need in training those students appropriately to enter the workforce.”

Another career expo is set for September. Organizers say more than 50 employers will be there, and students will get the chance to test out cutting-edge equipment.
