UPDATE: Heyworth man identified as victim of fatal farm tractor-semi crash

UPDATE (7:15 p.m.) - It was a Heyworth man killed Tuesday morning when a semi trailer struck the farm tractor he was driving on northbound U.S. Route 51 and McLean County Road 400 North, near Heyworth.
The coroner’s office Tuesday evening identified the victim as Jay C. Fitzgerald.
Autopsy results indicate Fitzgerald, 44, died from head injuries, according to the coroner’s office.
Illinois State Police say their preliminary investigation shows the semi, driven by Andrew D. Mollet, 36, from Argenta, hit the farm tractor, which then overturned in a ditch about 8:40 a.m.
Troopers said Fitzgerald, who was thrown from farm tractor, was pronounced dead at the scene.

MCLEAN COUNTY (WEEK) - A man is dead after the farm tractor he was in early Tuesday morning was hit by a semi truck.
Illinois State Police say it happened at 8:42 AM Tuesday at Route 51 and 400 North just north of Heyworth in McLean County.
State Police say the semi was heading north on Route 51, when it hit the tractor, which was heading north in the right lane.
The farm tractor overturned in a ditch, which ejected the driver. That driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
At this time, the farm tractor driver’s identity has not yet been released.
It is also unclear if anyone has been cited.
