High School Saturday - State Track Finals, softball and baseball postseason

CENTRAL ILLINOIS (WEEK) - The IHSA State Track Meet Finals were held Saturday at Eastern Illinois and many Central Illinois athletes came home with gold.

In Class 2A, Limestone’s Wilson Georges sets a record in the 1600-meters to win the state title, Pontiac’s DeWayne Johnson wins the 110-meter hurdles title, and IVC’s David Russell wins the discus. Russell was also second in the shot put.

In Class 1A, Cornerstone Christian’s Ridge Willard wins the pole vault state title. In Class 3A, Normal Community’s Charles Cruse wins the pole vault title.

Saturday was also a busy day in high school baseball and softball.

In Class 2A, Brimfield defeats Sherrard to win the Knoxville Sectional. In Class 1A, LeRoy defeats Delavan to win the IWU Sectional.

In Class 3A, Washington wins big over Peoria Richwoods in the Metamora Regional, Morton defeats East Peoria in the Morton Regional, and Normal U-High falls to Champaign Central in the Normal Regional.

In Class 3A softball, Bloomington defeats Washington in the Bloomington Regional.

Also, Dunlap tennis was welcomed home Saturday after taking third in state.
