PEORIA (WEEK) - CityLink’s new maintenance and administrative building is underway.

CityLink broke ground on the $50 million project Thursday.

Funding for the project came from the $45 billion ‘Rebuild Illinois’ bill.

Illinois Department of Transportation Secretary and Peoria native Omer Osman says the upgrade will help CityLink better serve those who rely on their service.

“For a lot of people who live in Peoria and the surrounding community, that’s the only means of transportation for them to get to the doctors to get their groceries, to get to their jobs, to get to their entertainment facility,” he says. “A lot of people are totally dependent on transit so this is tremendous.”

The new building is expected to be complete by December 2023 and fully operational by Spring 2024.
