Manual Highschool basketball documentary is in the works
PEORIA (WEEK) - An ex-manual high school basketball player planned to make sure Peoria’s basketball legacy was never forgotten.
Creston Coleman played on Manual’s 1997 state championship team, which was the school’s fourth in a row. He said he was producing a documentary film about Manual’s basketball history and would begin filming May 21st.
The documentary would start with the schools first state championship win in 1930, but Coleman said the film went deeper than just basketball.
“The basketball piece is so important because during those times the city was at its high,” Coleman said. “The city needs help, we need some revamping and this is the foundation of bringing our city back.”
Coleman planned an alumni reunion; he’s called a ‘Ram-ily reunion’ to kick off filming.
