Local group hosts session on how to apply for grants
PEORIA (WEEK) - For people looking for a grant or how to write one, a local business is giving people the tips they need to get their money.
The Minority Business Development Center (MBDC) hosted a session Saturday to teach over 70 people how to apply for a local, state or federal grant for their business.
CEO of MBDC Denise Moore said they conducted a survey and found that 85% of people want to learn how to apply for a grant.
They partnered with the Community Navigator Program to provide the free class and learn from grant writers and others who applied on how the process is done.
“The state actually provided us a grant to complete our incubator and the space that they’re sitting in was grant funded,” Moore said.
“That’s an opportunity to illustrate that the state can come through for funding that you can use on an everyday basis in your community,” she said.
Denise Moore said they plan to host another session in October.
Moore said anyone who missed Saturday’s session can stop by MBDC anytime to learn more about grant writing
