PEORIA (WEEK) - Students at Bradley University took advantage of the warm weather Saturday with live music and voter registration on the quad.

It’s called ‘Join the Groovement’, a campaign where the Peoria County Election Commission, Bradley Public Relations student’s KLS Agency and more are helping the community register to vote while enjoying live music from five local bands.

The campaign is a product of the Bradley Student’s senior PR capstone course, where they tackle social issues in Peoria.

Senior Stephanie Mahrt said they chose voter registration because they found that the lowest percentage of voters is 18 to 29-years-old.

“It’s important for any society and community to be civically engaged and involved,” Mahrt said.

“It’s super important to know what’s going on where you live,” she added.

Mahrt said at least 10 people registered to vote.

People who stopped by could also sign up to become a election judge.
