PEORIA (25 News) - Six people were taken to the hospital, with one in critical condition, after a two-vehicle crash Saturday night in Peoria.

According to a press release from the Peoria Fire Department Sunday morning, firefighters and paramedics responded near the intersection of War Memorial Dr. and Brandywine Dr. around 7:20 PM. Once they arrived on scene, they determined there were six patients total, with one needing extrication with the “Jaws of Life.”

The extricated patient was treated on the way to a local hospital, and is reported to be in serious condition. Five other patients were treated and taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The ages and genders of the victims are unknown.

The Peoria Police Dept. shut down traffic on War Memorial Drive for about four hours, re-opening lanes around 11:00 PM. No injuries to firefighters were reported.
