Normal man identified after Saturday afternoon crash
NORMAL (WEEK) - A man from Normal has been identified after a crash Saturday at around 12:45 p.m.
A preliminary autopsy opinion on James J. Carroll, 63, indicates that he died of head and chest injuries due to a motor vehicle collision, reportedly sustained as the driver and sole occupant of one of the impacting vehicles, according to a joint release from Normal Police and McLean County Coroner’s Office.
Toxicology testing is pending.
The crash happened at the intersection of Towanda Avenue and Shelbourne Drive.
One of the drivers was an 18-year-old woman from Normal driving a passenger vehicle, according to Normal Police Chief Rick Bleichner. She was treated for her injuries and released.
The incident remains under investigation by the coroner’s office and Normal Police Department.
