Bradley University esports tournament builds community
PEORIA (25 NEWS) - Bradley University hosted its third-ever, large-scale esports competition Saturday.
‘Get Outplayed 3′ drew dozens of Central Illinois gamers to play in a Super Smash Bros. tournament and meet others. Participants had to pay an entry fee, and prize money was distributed following the tournament.
But above all, Bradley University Super Smash Bros. club president Frank Paolini says he just wanted everyone to have fun.
“The importance of going out and seeing friends and getting together to play this game,” Paolini said. “Sure you can play online, like most other games. But there’s something special about your buddy sitting next to you.”
Outside of these larger tournaments, Frank says the club meets frequently on a smaller basis.
