Peoria Public Works preparing for midweek winter storm
PEORIA (25 News) - Here we go again! A winter storm is on the way to Central Illinois and it is time to make sure we are prepared for significant travel impacts.
Peoria Public Works is gearing up for a long couple of days working to keep the roadways in the City of Peoria as safe as possible during the storm. Sie Maroon, Deputy Director of Operations at Public Works, says that they are ready for the storm and he urges the public to use caution.
“Unless you need to really leave your home, I don’t think you should leave. I know there are people that need to go to work and we’re going to make sure that people can get to and from home to work.” Said Maroon.
He also said to make sure to give plow drivers space if you come across them on the roadways and that they are the most impactful force to help people be able to travel safely.
“The plow drivers are going to be the most impactful thing going on out there to help people get where they need to go. They’re going to have the greatest effect on their safety.” Said Maroon.
This will likely be a two-wave storm with significant travel impacts expected into the late week. Stick with us going forward for the latest information.
