UPDATE - The Peoria County Coroner has released the name of a man found dead Saturday morning, in what authorities suspect was a hit-and-run

40-year-old Caleb Russell of Peoria died at the scene with injuries inconsistent with life. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday morning.

PEORIA (25 NEWS) - A man is found dead Saturday morning, believed to be hit by a vehicle in rural Peoria County.

The Peoria County Sheriff’s Office says in a release, deputies responded to the body found near the 7600 block of Plank Road around 5:40am New Year’s morning. This is near the Longbow neighborhood.

The 40-year-old man’s injuries are believed to be consistent with being hit by a vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

There is no suspect vehicle description at this time, but the sheriff’s office says there should be damage to that vehicle.

The identity of the victim will be released by the Peoria County Coroner.
