Santa Bill spends Wednesday at OSF Childeren’s Hospital of Illinois
PEORIA (25 NEWS) - Santa Bill was emotional Wednesday as he visited the OSF Children’s Hospital of Illinois -- after a record-beating turnout for toy donations.
This marks Santa Bill’s 25th year coming to the hospital to deliver toys.
It all started with Bill handing out football cards and has grown into a massive toy drive and giveaway.
The Peoria Fire Department joins Santa by lifting him for every child to see from their window -- which is perfect in the social-distancing age of the pandemic.
“When I see them do this it brings tears of joy to my eyes... knowing these kids are getting something that we brought in here for them,” Santa Bill said. “If I make one kid smile from something that we brought in here, then I did what I had to do.”
This year, they collected over $30,000 worth of toys.
The goal? $25,000 worth of toys.
