Pair from Normal arrested for multi-county vehicle burglary spree, stolen items may have been sold at yard sale
PEORIA (25 NEWS) -A man and woman from Normal have been arrested for vehicle break-ins last month in several communities, and investigators indicate items taken in the burglary were sold at a yard sale in the Twin-Cities.
LeRoy Police put out a news release on the department’s Facebook page Friday saying multiple burglaries happened in that city, and in Saybrook, Arrowsmith, Colfax, Roanoke, Benson, Washburn, DeLand, and Weldon.
Wednesday, police said the Woodford County Sheriff’s Office obtained a warrant to search a vehicle and a home in Normal, in which stolen items were recovered. That same day, police arrested Jeremiah Morrissey, 23, and Angel Roden, 25 on preliminary charges of burglary and possession of stolen property. Morrissey was also booked for possession of ammunition by a felon, while Roden was possession of ammunition without a FOID card.
Police expect charges to be filed by prosecutors in McLean, Woodford, Piatt, and DeWitt Counties. The investigation continues, and police said more arrests are possible.
Meantime, investigators want to hear from people who may have bought tools or hunting equipment from the Morrissey or Roden at a yard sale on Shelbourne Drive in Normal. Police are asking yard sale patrons to contact LeRoy Chief Jason Willilamson at 309-962-3310 or McLean County Sheriff’s Office Detective Bryan Hanner at 309-888-5063.
