Peoria man dead after Saturday night shooting in Springfield

PEORIA (25 NEWS) - A Peoria man has been pronounced deceased after a shooting Saturday night in Springfield.

Demarius Burnside, 28 was pronounced deceased at 9:48 p.m. in the emergency room at St. John’s Hospital on November 6, according to a release from Sangamon County Coroner Jim Allmon.

Burnside died from multiple gunshot wounds after being transported from the 1600 block of East Morgan Street.

Springfield Police responded at around 8:27 p.m. to a report of a shooting inside a home in that area.

Officers on the scene were able to identify a possible suspect in the case, according to a police department release.

This subject and several witnesses were interviewed by investigators. The subject has been released pending further investigation.
