Boy critically wounded in Peoria shooting
PEORIA (25 NEWS) - Peoria Police say a boy is fighting for his life after a shooting Monday on Sheridan Road and Macqueen Avenue.
A Shot Spotter alert indicated at least 12 gunshots were fired in the area about 2:30 p.m., according to police.
Police said they the victim suffering from gunshot wounds, and paramedics rushed him to the hospital. He was said to be in critical condition.
Neighbors told police they saw a gunman run up to the victim and shoot him in a yard.
Investigators appeared to have found more than a dozen shell casings at the crime scene.
Police did not immediately have information about any suspects, although they said they’re actively investigating the shooting.
